Wednesday

Yesterday I spent some time transplanting St. Augustine grass runners into some bare areas of our backyard. I will have to water everyday for a while until the roots take hold. It looks bad now, but hopefully it will fill in nicely.

Then, I spent over 3 hours cleaning out Ashah's room. I took out 2 trash bags of, you guessed it, trash and 3 boxes of Garage Sale junk. She sat on her bed playing her gameboy and saying "Yes" or "No" when I questioned her about keeping her stuff. These will be the "before" pictures of her bedroom. I am planning on cleaning/sanding/filling holes on the trim and windowsills today. Then I will get those repainted. The ceiling needs to be cleaned and painted, and then the walls. She wants a sage green. We are also going to get rid of the old computer because all it is good for is playing around on the Microsoft Word program. Then, I will paint the desk. Any suggestions on the color?

Before I start on the trim work, I will rip out this carpet in the closet and then take off the remaining carpet tack board using a crowbar thingy and a hammer. This is my favorite part! Jeff and the girls have already removed the carpet in the bedroom. The black on the floor is a glue of some sort that was used to hold down the old tiles that were under the carpet. We were going to originally put down laminate flooring (like in the hallway and Livingroom) but decided that it would be much quicker to have new carpet laid. To do the laminate, we would have to remove all of the baseboards and door casings. No big deal except that it is labor intensive and would cost more. Putting the new baseboards in takes a long time, as Jeff can only work on it when he isn't at work, bible class, or the lake!

This picture shows the new flooring in the livingroom. Please ignore the stupid sofa cushion that is slouching! I forgot to straighten it before taking the pic! We still need to find the perfect (and inexpensive) area rug. I think that it looks great~Jeff did an awesome job!

Meeko

We have decided to go with the name "Meeko". Ashah remembered reading that Sacagawea had named her son this in the book "Streams to the River, Rivers to the Sea". It means Little Brown Squirrel. And, even though our kitten isn't a little brown squirrel, I was proud enough that she remembered something that she had read and let her name the kitten this!

He is two weeks old today and finally has his eyes open!

Here he is taking a nap with his Momma:

Well, gotta run ~ the girls are fighting over a GameBoy game. Ugh!

More pictures from Akumal

This is mine and April's ode to Tina. A Coldplay song come on so we just had to do Tina's dance!

This is the towel art that was left on our bed the last morning. We had upped our tip to the Maid a dollar each day trying to get towel art! I think that she only did it this last day because of the questionnaire that was left on top of it.

These boys were really feeling the Tequila Diablos! They bought the $7 Cuban cigars when April and I weren't looking!

This is the infamous Swing Bar that April danced on. The pics of that didn't turn out ~ Jeff was too drunk to turn the camera flash on!

Butterball Boy

One more picture! He is getting so fat! The little black thing on his tummy is the imbilical cord. It is gone this afternoon, so I guess that Momma Cat took care of it. Gross!

He has turned out to not be orange, but a light tan or buff color. I am thinking that his name may be Butterball. Jeff likes Loco Gato, though. What do you think?

Akumal Pictures

Well, I finally got some of our pictures from the Akumal trip scanned in. Here is a shot of Jeff and I just before he shaved off all his facial hair. His snorkeling mask wasn't sealing properly!

Here I am posing on the balcony of our room:

Posing with the Akumal town statue:

This was taken with a cheap underwater camera. Andy swimming with a turtle:

This skeleton man was outside one of the little shops in the town of Akumal.

(Notice that Jeff always has his Bubba Keg of beer and I always have on a hat! I hated that stupid, humid, salty air!)

I will post the drunken, lewd pictures next time!

New addition!

This little guy was born last night around 9:00! Calli (the Mom) had previously had a miscarriage of 4 kittens. We were glad she only had one this time and was able to carry it to term! Jeff says that it is a boy. I thought that I had heard that all orange cats are boys and all calicos are girls. Who knows! We will be getting Calli fixed in 6 weeks. We now have 7 cats!

'Till next time,
